Greater Than
"My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the Lord. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine." Isaiah 55:8
As we experience ups and downs in our ever- changing world, it's easy to believe that the life's equations don't quite add up. Is there a constant that we can count on? Or is the sum of our own experience our only guide? The God of the Bible claims to be greater than anything we could fathom. In this five- week series, we'll explore how a loving, all-powerful God transcends fear, our enemies, government, ourselves, even death itself.

Give
is a four-letter word Put the words "money" and "church" together and you're likely to start an argument. Add the word "give" and you've got an all-out war. So why during these tough economic times would we add insult to injury by talking about such an offensive subject? Perhaps it's because the Bible has much to say about these things, and much of it will surprise you! We hope you'll join us.

Toxic Faith
Cliché is defined as a phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought. And while each of us is bombarded daily with clichés that are seemingly benign, cute, or nostalgic, few of us realize how poisonous these oft repeated sayings, no matter how well-intentioned, can be when combined with matters of faith. Over the next five weeks, we'll focus on some toxic phrases that get thrown around frequently in the church - this despite the fact that they aren't found in the Bible! Together we'll learn a more substantive way to encourage each other.

Verse of the Year
As each of us prepare for the new year, it's only normal to look back at 2008 and perform an inventory of sorts to determine what kinds of changes or corrections we'd like to see in our lives. At Renaissance we're doing the same thing - but our plan for 2009 isn't centered around exercise, weight- loss, or any of the typical year-end themes. While New Year's Resolutions are typically long-gone by February, we're unveiling something that will remain with us all year. We're calling it the Verse of the Year. We've picked a verse that speaks to both the kind of church we want to be organizationally, but also the kind of people we'd all aspire to be. So join us December 28 and January 4. We can't think of a more meaningful way to kick off 2009!
